Poem: Unnecessary Weight

Unnecessary Weight

The pain easily sat there like a brick,

and this brick was huge and heavy,

much too heavy for one man to carry.

Yet, here he was carrying this huge, heavy brick around his neck

like he was born to carry it.

He knew he wasn’t meant to hold it in any way.

It was placed on him unwillingly, quite unwillingly,

and yes, he kicked and yelled when it was placed on him.

He was told this was what life brought you,

but he only saw it as unnecessary,

punishment reserved for those they hated.

When you do bad things, bad results happen he was told,

except he wasn’t willing to take responsibility because it was a trick,

and accused people are sometimes innocent.

He tried everything to undo this nightmare situation.

The evidence pointed elsewhere, but no one cared.

It was better to sweep it under the rug than to be fair, honest, and right.

Every defense he tried, the strikes were too powerful.

Over time it weakened him, and he took a long rest to gather himself.

It was here he found a different kind of strength.

They were trying to kill him,

but he sure wasn’t going to make it easy for them.

As long as oxygen reached his lungs, he would fight ’til the every end.

Thanks for the encouragement and nice knowing a few people will want to read my novel. I’m hoping all of them are varied in some way. 🙂

Oh I’m sure it’s all about priorities. And since now you’re prioritising writing, it would work wonders. But nothing comes without action like you said. It won’t be a surprise if you feel a little underwhelmed when it’s actually coming out, but your readers won’t be! 🙂 Looking forward for this novel and your other posts in general.

I don’t mind sharing, but admit I’ve been doing too much spinning my wheels and procrastination in 2018. Then again, moving takes up A LOT of time, but that’s now done. I hope to be finished by the end of this year and sooner if possible. Having a full time job with other interests doesn’t leave much time for writing, but I’m trying to make it more of a priority. I haven’t done that, which is why it has taken me so long. When I am done, I will be sure to broadcast it everywhere. My roommate will read it first and then see about a copywriter. First things first like finish it. I’ve been dreaming about it so long that it might feel underwhelming when it actually happens. 🙂

I don’t know much about writing novels but the thought of it sounds like a big process that asks for a lot of involvement. I can’t question if you’re slow but that would only mean you’re coming out with something beautiful. When are you expecting to finish the current one? Or if that’s inappropriate, how much have you written already?

they are different novel ideas except my trilogy concept. the trilogy won’t happen until i finish this one and then one more. i will be really hunkering down and alienating everyone as i write it. my issue is i’m a slow writer and hoping the next one doesn’t take as long. there’s a fine line between enjoying the process of writing and being too harsh about it. i have to deal with it because that it who i am.

Is that a series of stories that continue throughout the seven novels?

Yes everything is perfect here and I hope the same for you 🙂

Thanks because my goal is to then write at least seven more novels. We’ll see if I get there, but one day at a time. Hope all is well with you.

Oh wow! Good luck for that. That’s definitely a task asking for more commitment.

    These lines are a gem:

They were trying to kill him,

but he sure wasn’t going to make it easy for them.

Says a lot about the character of the person. It’s okay to lose. It’s not okay to give up.
