Hulu TV Recommendation: Castle Rock Season 2 (2019)

I’m not normal, Joy. There’s a whole lot wrong with me and very little right. But the thing that keeps me on the right side of the double yellow line is knowing how to love one thing. And that’s you.

-Annie Wilkes-

Castle Rock is a town for some of Stephen King’s novels.  It is a place where bad things can happen as in Needful Things and The Dark Half (both great stories).  There are a lot of moving parts in this series as it hits on different characters and themes.  I preferred this season more than the first as the relationship between Annie and Joy was similar to the characters of Dolores and Selena in Dolores Claiborne.  They have a contentious relationship, but one that is explained and backed up with great substance.  The highlight of this season was Annie (played by Lizzy Caplan and you might remember one of her earlier appearances as Janis Ian in Mean Girls). Talk about big shoes to fill as in Kathy Bates.  She should’ve won something for this role.  This season also includes Tim Robbins as Merrill although his children, friends, and enemies call him Pop. There is a dynamic that sometimes occurs between his adopted children and blood related siblings.  In this case it involves Pop’s nephews and one of them is Ace (played by Paul Sparks).  It comes to a more definitive end compared to the first season because most of us know what already happened to Annie Wilkes in Misery. The thing to remember while watching this is no matter what episode is viewed on Castle Rock, there are parts where you give your 100% attention while the rest is just as compelling.

I give Castle Rock Season 2 FOUR FINGERS at 90%.
