If you need to jump from a moving car, pull the emergency brake to slow it down, open the door, jump out and away from the car, and try to land in the grass or brush. Remember to tuck your head, arms, and legs.
If you are in whitewater rapids, try to hold onto your raft and swim toward shore. If you can’t do that and find yourself in a water hole, swim toward the bottom to get out of the current.
If you need to slow your bike down without brakes, lean forward and push against the pedals in the opposite direction. Turn quickly to stop moving forward and remember to lean into the turn. Whip the back end to slow it down even more. Jump off the seat moving forward, put your legs down, and drag your shoes on the ground. Leap backward off the seat.
If you have a bungee jumping disaster, straighten your leg and body and tuck your chin into your chest. Put your arms in a diving position below your head and enter the water fists first. As soon as you hit the water, move your arms and legs outward and swim to the surface.
If a vicious dog is wanting to attack you, stand your ground by looking tough but don’t stare. Back away from the dog slowly and do your best to defend yourself. Curl into a ball if it attacks.
If you need to drive in a hurricane, don’t drive behind or next to large vehicles and stay in the middle lane. Slow your speed to 10 mph and turn on your high beams. Slow your car by removing your foot on the gas pedal as breaking will cause your car to hydroplane.
