If you need to block a door that opens inward, find a wooden or metal chair and place the chair a foot from the door. Lean the chair backward so the chair is wedged under the doorknob. Push down on the front of the seat and kick the chair in farther to make it tight. Put a trunk or dresser against the chair to make it harder to open.
If you need to climb out of a chimney, place your back against one wall and your feet against the other. Take your right foot off the opposite wall and place it under your backside. Press your back away from the wall with your hands and push your body up with your hands and feet. Place your back on the wall again and move your right foot back onto the opposite wall. Keep repeating until you are at the top. Shift your body weight to your hands and press up.
If you need to preserve a severed finger, hand, or limb, wash the severed body part gently with water. Wrap it in a moderately wet cloth and wrap it in a plastic bag. Keep it cold but not frozen. The body part can live up to six hours.
If you are in a mugging, do not fight unless your life is in danger. If you are attacked, fight back by hitting all vital and vulnerable areas of the body. Use anything to damage eyes, face, kidneys, neck.
If you need have a boil, apply a hot water bottle a few times a day and then rub zinc oxide over it. When it is ready to pop, let it drain naturally and cover antibiotic over it, so it doesn’t get infected.
