These turned from movies reviews to movies I’ve watched because too much time had passed since I watched Oppenheimer and Barbie. I don’t know if it’s even worth mentioning anymore but here they are, take it or not. Some new and some old but all in the 2000s.
Oppenheimer (2023) is about J. Robert Oppenheimer and the role he played in creating the atomic bomb that would later bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It has a rating of R and is three hours. It is directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer, Emily Blunt as Kitty Oppenheimer, Matt Damon as Leslie Groves, Robert Downey Jr. as Levi Strauss, Alden Ehrenreich as Senate Aide, Scott Grimes as Counsel, and Jason Clarke as Roger Robb.
The Monuments Men (2014) is about soldiers rescuing art masterpieces from Hitler’s SS army during WWII. It has a rating of PG-13 and is one hour and 58 minutes. It is directed by George Clooney and stars Clooney as Frank Stokes, Matt Damon as James Granger, Bill Murray as Richard Campbell, Cat Blanchett as Claire Simone, John Goodman as Walter Garfield, Jean Dujardin as Jean Claude Clermont, Hugh Bonneville as Donald Jeffries, and Bob Balaban as Preston Savitz.


The Descendants (2011) is about a land baron reconnecting with his daughters after his wife is in a coma. It has a rating of R and is one hour and 55 minutes. It is directed by Alexander Payne and stars George Clooney as Matt King, Shailene Woodley as Alexandra King, Amara Miller as Scottie King, Patricia Hastie as Elizabeth King, and Nick Krause as Sid.
Stars at Noon (2022) is about a U.S. journalist named Trish stranded in Nicaragua and her only way to escape is to partner with a stranger when she runs out of friends. It has a rating of R and is two hours and 15 minutes. It is directed by Claire Denis and stars Margaret Qualley as Trish, Joe Alwyn as Daniel Dehaven, Benny Safdie as CIA man, Danny Ramirez as Costa Rican Cop, and Nick Romano as Subteniente.


Mortal Kombat (2021) is about an MMA fighter named Cole finding out his true identity and the battle that is about to ensue. It has a rating of R and is one hour and 50 minutes. It is directed by Simon McQuoid and stars Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi, and Chin Han as Shang Tsung.
Ender’s Game (2013) is about a young man named Ender being chosen to lead the fight against an alien race that might invade Earth again. It has a rating of PG-13 and is one hour and 54 minutes. It is directed by Gavin Hood and stars Asa Butterfield as Ender Wiggin, Harrison Ford as Colonel Graff, Hailee Steinfeld as Petra Arkanian, Abigail Breslin as Valentine Wiggin, Ben Kingsley as Mazer Rackham, Viola Davis as Major Gwen Anderson, and Aramis Knight as Bean.


Barbie (2023) is about Barbie questioning her life’s purpose in Barbie World. It is a rating of PG-13 and is one hour and 54 minutes. It is directed by Greta Gerwig and stars Margot Robbie as Barbie, Ryan Gosling as Ken, Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, Rita Arya as Barbie, and Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Ncuti Gatwa, Scott Evans, and John Cena as Ken.
A Good Year (2006) A British investment broker inherits his uncle’s chateau and vineyard in Provence, where he spent much of his childhood. He discovers a new laid-back lifestyle as he tries to renovate the estate to be sold. It has a rating of PG-13 and is one hour and 57 minutes. It is directed by Ridley Scott and stars Russell Crowe as Max Skinner, Abbie Cornish as Christie Roberts, Albert Finney as Uncle Henry, Marion Cotillard as Fanny Chenal, Fredie Highmore as Young Max, Rafe Spall as Kenny, Archie Panjabi as Gemma, and Richard Coyle as Amis.
