Just like movie rental stores, it seems likely that movie theatres might become a thing of the near past due to COVID and all the streaming services. Similar replaces similar and that includes the entertainment industry. Back in 2007 when movie theatres were still all the rage, Stacy Spikes and Hamet Watt were the creators of MoviePass. The company started small like most start-up companies do before they expand, but their dream stopped way short of the mark because of an AMC cease and desist order. Enter Chris Kelly, a board member that brought in Mitch Lowe who became the CEO of Movie Pass. It is because of Mitch Lowe’s decision to hire Ted Farnsworth that ultimately brought MoviePass to its knees (meaning bankruptcy and criminal charges). By the end of MoviePass, the viewer realizes Ted Farnsworth was a conman all along and responsible for stripping the original CEO of any decision-making power. There is a tiny silver lining because when MoviePass declared bankruptcy, it allowed Stacy Spikes to regain control of MoviePass. Through all the corporate greed and shady business practices, MoviePass resumed in 2021 as originally intended.
I rate MoviePass, MovieCrash FOUR FINGERS and ONE THUMB at 100%
