This is a great documentary about how un-regulation on Wall Street causes the lack of protection of U.S. citizens regarding their well-earned money. The China Hu$tle goes in depth into the corruption of Chinese companies using the American stock market as a way to increase their greedy profits. Dan David and Jon Carnes were two shareholders who discovered the fraud and sought to bring it to light. Because of misrepresentation by way of shell companies along with other fraudulent activities, Chinese companies were able to falsely file their earnings/revenue with the SEC. This led to major losses for U.S. investors especially after the crash in 2008.
The China Hu$tle explains this fraudulent scam in a way that is understood well by the average person not well versed in world finance. There’s more than one country or person to blame for this. The Chinese are clearly guilty of not being transparent and riding their growth to the very end. Also guilty are the Americans looking for quick profit by persuading unsuspecting investors to buy stocks when they increase in value. They stress the importance of striking when the iron is hot, but the uninformed investors don’t realize they are essentially worthless. By the end of the documentary, not much has changed and those guilty are not charged. By nature, stocks are boring. No one wants to know more about them. It’s a risk many of us continue to take regarding our futures.
I rate The China Hustle FOUR FINGERS at 90%.
