There is no room for tiredness. Laziness if the evil of all mankind. There is a tale to tell. This spans many years, many places, many different centuries where the major players do not know each other but have a commonality and can be seen if they are open to receive the news later.
On this particular day, the weather is overcast with a slight wind. The sun makes a pact with the sky and only shows itself for a quarter of the day. Even the bright light needs a vacation, a rest from the demands of humans. The tiny village where our players originate meet on a day similar to all the rest and one before last.
One of the players is taller than the other. There has to be a reason besides genetics although no one figures out why. This makes for an interesting couple, a good friendship if you will, and soon they become inseparable. Where one goes, the other follows close behind or beside. There are times one walks away from the other when there is enough courage to risk getting lost from the other. On the subway or park or elevator, their energies are never in sync but similar enough.
They are close during all times and places. Soon they wear the same colors, and their hairstyles mirror one another. When one is underneath the other, it becomes harder to see them as two separate entities. Their minds and bodies become entwined, and confusion is never expressed even though both feel it in their hearts. Soon the sun disappears for a while and the two players rely on each other in the dark as they do in the light.
They find a large tree with enough shade when the sun comes out again. Resting against each other, a transformation occurs. No one is around to see it or hear it. They feel the change and categorize the process as best they can with photos and recordings. Their faces will be unrecognizable when they wake up in a different location and century.
Their eyes savor the closeness for the last time. The hard work has been done. A moment before disappearing, they say their goodbyes and pray they will recognize each other soon.
