This was meant to be posted in October, but October came and went. I watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original) for the nth time this year (one of my favorite horror movies) and few more horror movies I’ve never seen before. I’m not going to go in depth of what each is about except for a quick blurb. The bottom line is Hollywood doesn’t make horror movies like they used to or least not many of them like they used to. The independent horror experience from the past are now horror masterpieces. I doubt there will ever be another John Carpenter (Halloween), George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead), Wes Craven (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead), or Tobe Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre). The 70s and 80s are long gone from the rearview mirrors. Many filmmakers have tried, and a few have come close, but this is for another later discussion.
