I can’t believe I thought this show wasn’t worth watching when it first started. I kept watching and by the third episode in the first season, I was hooked. I apologize to the writers and creators back in 2006 when it didn’t catch my attention. Fast forward years later and besides the demons, angels, God, Lucifer, the countless monsters coming in all shapes, sizes, and strengths, the acting is solid amid some of the hokey story lines. It’s not enough to be categorized as downright silly as say Lucifer (although maybe I should give this show another chance as well), but the partnerships and family are about as authentically portrayed as any real family. Supernatural is about as you’ve probably guessed things that go bump in the night.
The whole series deals with the Winchester family, mainly two brothers Dean and Sam that stick together like glue most of the time, and how they effectively or not complete their missions. The first episode starts with them trying to find their missing father while traveling across state lines to do their part in killing one monster at a time. The last two episodes start with the brothers trying to defeat their biggest enemy of all time.
Dean Winchester is played by Jensen Ackles and Sam Winchester is played by Jared Padalecki. This Eric Kripke creation has 15 seasons, and each episode is about 44 minutes. The rest of the cast is great from Alexander Calvert as Jack, Mark Sheppard playing Crowley, Misha Collins playing Castiel, Jim Beaver playing Bobby Singer, Mark Pellegrino playing Lucifer, Samantha Smith playing Mary Winchester, Ruth Connell playing Rowena MacLeod, and Rob Benedict playing Chuck Shurley. My favorite characters besides the brothers are Lucifer and Crowley. They are by far the most entertaining, well-acted, and complex for being on the wrong side in most of the episodes.
My favorite episodes from all 15 seasons are below. I really didn’t have any episodes I didn’t like although there was one, I wished had a little more action and substance.
Season 1: Episode 19 called Provenance about an antique painting that is supposedly is killing the buyers.
Season 2: Episode 19 called Folsom Prison Blue about a ghost killing prison inmates.
Season 3: Episode 5 called Bedtime Stories about stranger murders mimicking fairy tales.
Season 4: Episode 17 called It’s a Terrible Life about the Winchesters living alternative lifestyles instead of being hunters.
Season 5: Episode 7 called The Curious Case of Dean Winchester about Sam and Dean playing poker with a witch in exchange for years off their life not money if they lose.
Season 6: Episode 9 called Clap Your Hands if You Believe about Sam and Dean investigating a UFO sighting.
Season 7: Episode 12 called Time After Time about Dean going back in time to 1944.
Season 8: Episode 6 called Southern Comfort about Sam, Dean, and Garth solving murders involving a spectre.
Season 9: Episode 11 called First Born about Dean and Crowley search for the First Blade and leads them to Cain.
Season 10: Episode 21 called Dark Dynasty about Sam and Dean looking into the Styne family involving the Book of the Damned.
Season 11: Episode 8 called Just My Imagination about Sam’s imaginary friend from long ago that’s invisible to most people.
Season 12: Episode 9 called First Blood about Sam and Dean escaping a government facility after trying to kill the president of the U.S.
Season 13: Episode 21 called Beat the Devil about Lucifer, Rowena, Sam, Dean, Castiel, Gabriel opening the portal to the Apocalypse World.
Season 14: Episode 4 called Mint Condition about Sam and Dean investigating action figures that come to life and kill people.
Season 15: Episode 14 called Last Holiday about Mrs. Butters that helps Sam, Dean, and Jack on a temporary basis.
I rate Supernatural with FOUR FINGERS and ONE THUMB at 97%.
