I’ve watched more than nine, but these are the nine that stick out the most over the last few months. Here they are in no particular order. Some were better than others but was able to watch all of them to the end.

Official Competition (2021) is a comedy about a billionaire businessman hiring a successful director Lola Cuevas (Penélope Cruz) in order to attain fame, he feels he deserves. The problem is the two actors are from different sides of the Hollywood sign. One is an egotistical movie star Félix Rivero (Antonio Banderas) while the other is a theater snob Iván Torres (Oscar Martínez) that must work together despite their glaring differences. It is rated R and is one hour and 55 minutes.

The First Omen (2024) is a horror about a young Catholic woman Margaret taking her vows. As she begins her journey, Margaret (Nell Tiger Free) realizes she’s the center of an evil conspiracy. Even though Father Brennan (Ralph Ineson) warns her life is in danger, but the darkness has already consumed her body. It is rated R and is one hour and 59 minutes.

Kandahar (2023) is an action about a CIA operative Tom Harris (Gerard Butler) and his translator Mohammad Doud (Navid Negahban) on the run after being exposed on a mission. It is rated R and is one hour and 59 minutes.

The Old Way (2023) is a drama about a retired gunslinger Colton Briggs (Nicolas Cage) and his daughter Brooke (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) going on the run when someone from his past wants revenge. It is rated R and is one hour and 35 minutes.

Notorious (2009) is a biography about the life and death of The Notorious B.I.G./Christopher Wallace (Jamal Woolard) and those who kept him humble including his mom Voletta Wallace (Angela Bassett). It is rated R and is two hours and 2 minutes.

Babygirl (2024) is a drama about a CEO Romy Mathis (Nicole Kidman) upending her stable career and family life when she becomes too involved with her intern Samuel (Harris Dickinson). It is rated R and is one hour and 54 minutes.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024) is an action about a young Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy) trying to get back home after the apocalypse the while Warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) has another plan. It is rated R and is two hours and 28 minutes.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) is a superhero action about the remaining Wakandan family including Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), and Okoye (Danai Gurira) fight to protect the kingdom of Wakanda after the king’s death. It is rated PG-13 and is two hours and 41 minutes.

The Amazing Maurice (2022) is an animation about a street cat Maurice (Hugh Laurie) that schemes people with the help of Malicia (Emilia Clarke) and pied piper (Rob Brydon). It is rated PG and is one hour and 33 minutes.
