Netflix TV Review: Bridgerton Season 2 (2022)

Move over Duke of Hastings, it’s now Anthony Bridgerton’s turn to show his worth to London and keep his family relevant among the families eager to take their place. While Duke of Hastings doesn’t make an appearance (disappointing many fans), his wife, Daphne does and sometimes their son who doesn’t care for her sister, Eloise. Where season one ended with Eloise helping the Queen find out the identity of Lady Whistledown, season two starts with Queen Charlotte holding a debutante ball to find another diamond to charm and entertain her. While Eloise is a part of this debut, it is Edwina Sharma who captures the attention of suitors including Anthony Bridgerton. Over planned dinners and inevitable meetings, Edwina’s sister, Kate, continues to find Anthony unsuitable for her sister. She greatly disapproves of Anthony’s fraudulent engagement to her sister and does her best to prevent it from happening. While all of this jockeying for power between Anthony and Kate continues over Edwina, Lady Danbury (Senior Ambassador) and Violet Bridgerton (Dowager Vicountess) have plans of their own. By the wedding day, the Queen is disappointed in more than one Bridgerton and due to this, Portia Featherington (Dowager Baronness) tries to elevate her standing in society. If she can’t do it through marriage of her daughters, then she’ll try in other ways. The friendship of Penelope Featherington and Eloise Bridgerton turns sour when Eloise takes interest in Theo Sharpe. A show like this has a lot of scheming and plotting. Season three is going to a great battle between two overlooked girls turning into women as much as it will be about the corgis.

I give Bridgerton Season 2 FOUR FINGERS and ONE THUMB at 95%.
