More You Know: #1001 Blog Entry About Different Subjects

A few days ago, I read about different sentences people were given for various crimes. It then led me to look at the number of deaths by the hands of a single person. I next thought about children and probably because I recently watched a show about JonBenét Ramsey and her tragic death. I got to thinking about child birth because I watched a show about that for some reason. You probably see where this is going. Here are some random facts and they are in no particular order.

Longest world non-life sentence = Chamoy Thipayo who was convicted of corporate fraud, defrauding more than 16,000 Thai people in a pyramid scheme in 1989.  She was given 141,078 years, but only served eight years out of 20 in accordance with Thai law.  She is still alive.

Longest U.S. non-life sentence = Christopher Campano who was convicted of first-degree manslaughter of his wife in 1992 in Oklahoma.  He was given 1,000 years.  He is still alive.

Longest world and U.S. life sentence without parole = Terry Nichols who was convicted of first-degree murder, first-degree arson, and conspiracy for the Oklahoma City bombing in the United States in 1995.  He was given 161 life sentences without parole.  He is still alive.

Longest white-collar crime sentence in the U.S. = Sholam Weiss who was convicted of racketeering, wire fraud and money laundering in Florida in 2000.  He was given 845 years then reduced to 835 years.  He is still alive.

Largest number of deaths by one medical person = Harold Shipman was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for killing 15 people although he killed a total of 218 patients in Britain.  He was caught in 1998 and committed suicide in 2004.

Largest number of deaths by one person = Luis Alfredo Garavito Cubillos was sentenced to 1,853 years in prison then reduced to 40 years in accordance with Colombian law.  He was caught in 1999 and raped, tortured, and killed at least 138 boys and teenagers.  He was caught in 1999.  He is still alive.  The chances of him being released in 2021 is not very likely.

Largest number of children by one woman = Valentina Vassilyeva who had 69 children due to 16 sets of twins, 7 sets of triplets, and 4 sets pf quadruplets.  There is some speculation this might not be completely accurate, but it was during the 1700s in Russia.

Largest number of children by one man = Moulay Ismail Ben Sharif who had 1,042 children due to a harem of 500 women.  It is estimated he had 342 girls and 525 boy, and even more were calculated after his death in 1727 in Morocco.

Oldest known family tree = Lurie family from 1037 BCE and originating from Israel.  This Ashkenazi Jewish line many with the last of of Lurie plus Karl Marx, Sigmund Freud, Felix Mendelssohn, and many others.
