Poem: In the Middle of the Book

It takes to your thumb like a fish in water.

Do it a few times and listen to the sounds of the pages.

Go to any random number and read a few sentences.

Get it out of your system as you know you’re not interested in what it says.

Okay, maybe a little bit.

Turn your back to strangers around you and bring it to your nose.

Stick it right in, like a dog sniffing the yellow and green grasses.

Inhale the remnants of the ink and pulp.

This is how you know you’re a lover of books.
