Poem: I’m Not Bouncing

I’ve never bounced off the walls.

I’m not a basketball.

I’ve never left marks behind.

I clean up after myself.

I’ve never been any kind of ball.

My bounce was never high.

I was old in a young body.

I’m not energetic.

My force isn’t strong.

I’m not here to prove myself.

It’s never been the intent.

I’m not a bouncing idiot.
