This show took a few episodes for me to get into but once it hooked me, I couldn’t stop watching it last year. The premise of Raising Hope is working-class parents, Virginia and Burt Chance, helping their son, Jimmy, raise his daughter. This comedic family sitcom was created by Gregory Thomas Garcia and lasted four seasons with 88 episodes with a running time of 22 minutes for each episode. Besides being an awkward teenager and young adult, Jimmy tries to cultivate his own identity away from his working-class upbringing. From the crazy talking and acting grandma to the rather dimwitted father to the chain-smoking mother, the actors and actresses playing these characters were rightfully chosen. Cloris Leachman plays Maw Maw or Barbara June Thompson, Martha Plimpton plays Virgina Slims Chance, Garret Dillahunt plays Burt Jebbidiah Chance, and Lucas Neff plays Jimmy Bon Jovi Chance. Additional cast members include Shannon Woodward as Sabrina Collins, Gregg Binkley as Barney Hughes, Baylie and Rylie Cregut as Hope Chance.
I rate Raising Hope FOUR FINGERS and ONE THUMB at 93%.
