Now that I live in the desert, I’m not by any ocean or river or lake by a long shot unless you count Lake Mead.  The Environment America Research and Policy Center collected samples and tested them for bacteria in 2018.  I’m surprised Santa Monica Pier isn’t one of the top five in California.
