I had every intention of submitting a few more blogs in April, but we are already in May now. So, here’s to another week and actually get motivation to blog consistently for May, as well as spend more time looking at other people’s blogs. Hope everyone is doing well.

I’ve been thinking about UFC again since moving to the Las Vegas area. I drive past the UFC building on my way to my massage appointment every month. It’s an interesting concept to be reminded that people pay a lot of money to see two men or women beat each other up as I’m on my way to relax. I then think how much I could take a beating. Weird, I know, but I do. I wonder how many punches I could take the face. I wonder how I’d handle a broken bone or a hard punch to any major organ.
The closest I’ve come to pain as a teenager was when my mom accidentally slammed my foot in the car door. I nice chunk of skin tore off my big toe. The other time was when my braces wire came loose and was embedded into my cheek for a week. I hardly felt it until it got infected. I lost a fingernail along the way, but that’s par for the course. Besides, fingernails are overrated especially when they are brittle. In middle school, one of my classmates accidentally cut his pinky on the band saw. In high school, I saw a person get hit by a car and when I looked up I saw him flying over my head.
When I lived in LA, I saw Chuck Liddell a few times while hiking and Rich Franklin in a Coffee Bean. The latter held the door open for me as I left with three drinks in a tray. I’ve seen a handful of UFC fights on TV. I’m not sure if I would ever pay that much money to see a fight live. It better be pretty damn spectacular, and I must really like the fighter. I eventually stopped watching the fights in 2015. I wish Ronda Rousey hadn’t transitioned into wrestling. I would’ve loved to seen her fight against Amanda Nunes again. I would’ve loved to seen George St. Pierre fight someone who could really challenge him. I will say out of all the fighters the two men I never got sick of watching was Lyota Machida and Nate Diaz and the two women were Miesha Tate and Holly Holm.
While I never got into boxing, there’s a punching and kicking apparatus in the gym. Eventually, I’m going to try it out. I’d like to think I could take a few hits to the face, but maybe not having to be afraid or worried to get punched is a good thing. My roommate thinks it is crazy for me to want to see if I could take it. I mean if Ronda Rousey was all wobbly during the Nunes fight, I’m sure I would fall on my knees crying. With this in mind, here are the current champions in each weight division for UFC.
