It’s been a long time since I’ve read Anne Rice’s books. Like with Stephen King, I stopped about halfway through one her books and never picked it up again. It’s still sitting somewhere half read with her signature on one of the first few pages. I’ve only read four of them from The Vampire Chronicles
“Most of us want to fix or change the world in some fashion. But to change the world, you first have to understand it.” -Steven D. Levitt- “I’m a writer. I’ve been a journalist for my whole adult life.” -Stephen Dubner- Publisher: William Morrow Paperbacks Original Publication: October 20, 2009 Reprint Publication: May 11,
Authors: Kang, Chol-Hwan and Pierre Rigoulot Publication Date: August, 24, 2005 Publisher: Basic Books Page Number: 238 I’ll always remember my Korean professor who defected from North Korea to South Korea. He spoke of the dangers on both sides. You must really want to leave there because there is a good chance you won’t make
All three of these were given to me as gifts and while I haven’t digested every page word for word and picture by picture, the topics continue to be captivating. North Korea is basically the same country, Circus Life still has its major flaws, and Earth still tries to regenerate and heal itself. The first
Publication Date: February 1, 2001 Publisher: Pocket Books Page Number: 562 As with most of Stephen King’s books, he writes about life after death, greed and temptation, mental illness and physical violence, and the mystical and supernatural. Why am I recommending “Pet Sematary” besides that the remake is coming out this year, starring Jason Clarke
Publication Date: October 19, 2006 (first edition) Publisher: McGraw-Hill Education Page Number: 224 This book is a little different from the rest sitting on my shelves. It is basically a book that will stimulate your brain. It has two different exercise levels, and most are fairly easy to do. It focuses on memory, language, attention
Publication Date: March 28, 2006 Publisher: Vintage Books Page Number: 287 I’ve read the book and saw the movie adaptation with Viggo Mortensen as Man and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Boy. The Road was a quick read about the journey of a father and his son in post-apocalyptic America. Without adequate resources and a car, they
Publication Date: April 15, 1997 Publisher: St. Martin’s Griffin Page Number: 672 Get out your reading glasses and a large glass of wine or whatever else you like to drink. I read this book a long time ago, but not sure exactly when. Obviously after April 1997. Being that I like to read about espionage
Although I’ve read only one of these bookings, I know someone who has read all three. He said they are all great especially “In the Garden of Beasts” and “Night.” It was too important for me to pass up not recommending them, given we currently live in a time when it’s become all too easy
Publisher: Skyhorse Publication Date: April 18, 2017 Page Number: 232 ******* TRAINED TO KILL: THE INSIDE STORY OF CIA PLOTS AGAINST CASTRO, KENNEDY, AND CHE is written by Antonio Veciana with Carlos Harrison. This was an interesting read as it is from the viewpoint of a man who had an overwhelming desire to kill Fidel
Publisher: Scribner Publication Date: 1st Touchstone Edition (May 25, 1999) Page Number: 368 Angela’s Ashes: A Memoir is written by Frank McCourt about his alcoholic father, Malachy, and music loving mother, Angela. They immigrated to the United States from Ireland for a new beginning. They had a son while living in New York. His name
Publication Date: May 5, 2015 Publisher: Vintage Books Page Number: 336 I bought this book with excitement as I heard Murakami was a great writer. I also bought another of his books, but sort of wish I had read that first instead. There’s nothing to compare this to since this is the only book I’ve
Publication Date: October 10, 1997 Publisher: Cleis Press Page Number: 180 Here’s a nod to my days when I was in my undergrad years, living in the capital of Wisconsin and living the good life or so I thought. I was definitely into learning about sexuality and gender. I voraciously read anything I could get
